Adam Spence Presents Ethics Program for Estate Planners

Adam M. SpenceUncategorized

Adam Spence recently presented an Ethics Program for Estate Planners for the Maryland-DC Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys as well as the National Academy of Continuing Legal Education.

Background on the Program

Adam has over 25 years of litigation experience, having concentrated on trust and estate disputes for the past 15 years.   Having litigated numerous will and trust disputes, Adam has seen the results of estate planners who have stepped on or narrowly avoided ethics “land mines” that are ever present during the estate planning process.  Failure to understand conflicts and the ethical issues in estate planning can lead to expensive and time-consuming ethics investigations, not to mention possible loss of licensure by estate planners.   Adam developed this CLE to focus on real life ethics scenarios facing estate planners.

Commitment to Bettering the Legal Profession

Since 2004, Mr. Spence has presented over fifteen different programs to educate other attorneys on subjects including marketing, technology, landlord-tenant law, debt collection, will disputes and electronic signatures.  These programs have been presented throughout Maryland to various bar associations including the Maryland State Bar Association, the Baltimore County Bar Association, the Baltimore City Bar Association and numerous law firms.   Committed to mentoring lawyers and the public’s perception of attorneys, Mr. Spence does not personally charge any fees for his presentations.

Mr. Spence is also a panelist on Maryland’s Attorney Grievance Commission Peer Review Panel.  Since 2019, Mr. Spence has sat on and chaired several panels, which review allegations of attorney misconduct.

For over twenty years, Mr. Spence has also provided internships to high school students, college students, and law students to learn more about the practice of law and mentor them in their careers.
